Basic Fiber Network Design, Thursday June 16, 2022

You spoke, we listened! ITS Wisconsin partnered with Milwaukee Area Technical College to offer this certified training. The course provided Introduction to the design and design parameters for installing and maintain fiber optic networks. The course introduced the basic theory of the physics of fiber optics. Post installation procedures for the fiber testing and troubleshooting were emphasized. Tools and equipment common to fiber optic installation and maintenance such as optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR’s) were discussed and utilized to reinforce the procedures and testing of the fiber optic networks. After the inspection, testing and troubleshooting discussion learners used fiber test documentation to identify faults or issues with newly installed fiber. The course provided Six (6) PDH hours. Thank you to our course sponsors!

ITS Wisconsin Cybersecurity Training – Applying the NIST Framework to Transportation Systems – December 2020

ITS Wisconsin in partnership with ITS America and FHWA offered training on cybersecurity related to transportation systems. With today’s connected transportation systems, state and local agencies are needing to consider potential cyber threats to the communications systems that support their intelligent transportation systems. This 2-day virtual training provided an opportunity to hear from FHWA experts on cybersecurity and become familiar with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework and how it can be applied in your organization.
